Apple employees who have invested the maximum $25,000 per year allowed in the company's employee stock purchase plan (ESPP) over the past seven years have seen their shares rise in value by over $500,000, just in the last six months, to a value of about $1.6 million.

Dark Shadows was a 1966-1971 soap opera that science fiction/horror fans could sink their teeth into: instead of characters who were doctors and lawyers, some of the dwellers of Collinsport, Maine, were vampires, witches, and zombies. The show had a brief second life in 1991, but its dedicated fans always wanted to know more about the Collins family and their pale distant cousin, Barnabas Collins, Now Tim Burton has turned the story of Dark Shadows into a movie. And from this trailer, below, it seems to be a comedy.

Prometheus is Ridley Scott's upcoming movie, a prequel to the famed Alien series. If it's anything like Scott's original Alien movie, it's going to contain horror, suspense, and a a few visceral dismemberments. Fans know this already. 20th Century Fox, however, wants to reach the few of you who haven't heard of Alien--or were soured by the post-Cameron sequels--with an electrifying trailer or two. Is any great name in old media doing a better job navigating new media than The New York Times? I'm not saying their every foray into newness has been successful. But overall The Times has embraced new tools with enviable energy and imagination, and even managed to let its hair down in the process.
