Le vrai nom de Taboo est James Gomez. Il est né le 14 Juillet 1975 à LOS ANGELES.

En 1989, les rappeurs Will.I.Am et Apl.de.ap se rencontrent au sein du groupe de breakdance Tribal Nation. Ils décidèrent de fonder ensemble un groupe de hip-hop nommé Atban Klann. En 1995, Will.I.Am et Apl.de.ap décident de recruter un nouveau MC, DJ et danseur : James Louis Gomez, qui prends le pseudomine de Taboo. Le groupe deviens alors BLACK EYED PEAS.

The BLACK EYED PEAS est aujourd'hui un groupe de Hip-hop américain, compoé de Will.I.Am, Apl.de.ap, Fergie et Taboo. Le groupe est influencé par des rythmes electro, dance, house, R'N'B contemporain, soul, funk, latino et jazz. En 2010, le groupe à vendu 35 Millions d'albums dans le monde, auxquelles s'ajoutent des records de ventes numériques mondiales d'albums et de singles commerciaux.
