"Foodies" should try Alba, in Italy, known for fine delicacies. It's about an hour south of Turin. Alba is the Mecca of white truffles. Singapore's numerous "hawker centers", food court type establishments which bridge the gap between street food and restaurant culture, are by far the best way to sample all the region's signature dishes for a fraction of the cost. Mendoza, Argentina's renowned wine-country is also a favorite destination for many.
